I don’t want to say that it is the Sabbath of the Jews or rather the Jewish Sabbath, for I as a christian, follow Christ no wonder am called a Christian.therefore i should follow Christ the Lord of the Sabbath, as Mathew, Mark and John put it.

Christmas was invented about the same time in order to provide a common celebration day for the pagans of Rome, and the Christians. Nowhere is Christmas mentioned in the bible. Since Israel gets snow, and Jerusalem is about 3000 ft above sea level, the likelihood of cold weather in December would preclude shepherds being out in the field with their flocks.

How come Jesus came as a Jew, kept all the laws including the Sabbath and stated that the seventh day was named the Sabbath…the only day that was named from creation…long before Moses came along and people rest on the 1st day and call it a Sabbath rest? I am a Sabbath keeper I keep all ten commandments.

Jn 19:31a
Now it was the day of Preparation, and the next day was to be a special Sabbath (Passover).

(Note: Jewish days are from 6pm to 6pm the next day.)

Pentecost in Acts, being 50 days from Passover, lies on Sunday (7 X 7 + 1 days).

Pentecost is particularly important for Christians as it is the day on which the Holy Spirit is given to the disciples (Acts 2:1-4), as Jesus Christ had promised the disciples on various occasions (e.g. Lk 24:49).

Hence, Christians take Sunday as an important day to remember what Christ has accomplished for us, rather than the Jewish Sabbath.

A day starts when the sun is down so you will want to start when the sun is down on Friday night and end when it goes down again. On a side note, I don’t like that our days are named after pagan gods :(

I try to do a spiratual rest like God was implying, but with our culture and definations rest means sleep. God rested on the 7th day which was Saturday. A Saturday and Sunday are the week ends so the beginning of the week starts with Sunday and ends in Saturday. If Sunday was the 7th day wouldnt that make saturday a weekday and sunday and monday the weekend. Just thought I would share since alot of people I know believe it out of tradition and don’t have any biblically references.

I don’t think is matters exactly which day you take because nurses, and many others work shifts and may have to work Saturday and Sunday, but I do think it is important to take a day of rest.I have chosen Saturday because Sunday is such a busy day for many of us as Christians! A day off for me means maybe a people free day, or a day to garden, bake and have coffee with a friend, which are all nurturing things that give me input rather than requiring output~!
