What book other than the Bible has had the biggest effect on your Christian life?

Maybe it was an inspiring devotional collection or a moving biography; or maybe the book itself had little to do with Christianity but somehow prompted you to think about your faith in a new way.

If you had to name one book other than the Bible that has influenced your Christian life, what would it be?

The Legends of the Guardian King series, by Karen Hancock. These books (novels) force you to THINK, and they expressed most of my beliefs better than I could before reading them.

Christina–interesting choice; I’m not familiar with Hancock’s series, but I just googled it and it looks interesting. Was there one book in that series in particular that struck you, or just the series in general?

  • The one book other than the Bible that has influenced my life, is my Zondervan Pictorial Bible Dictionary. I have used this book along with my bible for the past 40years. Thanks for asking!

The ministry of healing by Ellen G. White.

It touches all the aspects of life in a biblical way yet so practical and it is written in a simple language. I read it when iam down and nothing seems to be working, I read it whenever I want to understand what Jesus wants me to do best, when I need love….etc. you can check it out on the writings of Ellen G. White

It is an inspiring book! It challenges every aspect of your life!

Praying God’s Word by Beth Moore. An amazing tool in one’s journey through many of life’s struggles and strongholds.
I am traveling through separation and possible divorce right now, and I have been touched over and over again with reading these prayers and crying out to God with the power of HIS word! I’ve been claiming them every step of the way-healing for me and salvation for my husband and restoration of our marriage and family.
Thank you for asking this great question so we can benefit from others!

Love Beyond Reason by John Ortberg…I struggled for a bit with the understanding of Christ’s love for me and this book put it in perspective. I didn’t read it more than 2 years ago and have re-read it since.
