Are you making any New Year’s Resolutions for 2010?

Well, Christmas is officially over, and while the tree and decorations may stick around for a bit longer, it’s time to start thinking about the new year that’s right around the corner. And while there are all sorts of traditions and customs surrounding Christmas, New Year’s Day boasts only one big tradition: New Year’s Resolutions.

Are you making any New Year’s Resolutions for 2010?

If you are, do you care to share any? Are they serious resolutions—get your spiritual life in order, reclaim control of your finances, etc.—or lighthearted and frivolous? And how did you do with last year’s resolutions?

As the week progresses, I’ll post a few essays related to New Year’s Resolutions.

New Year’s Resolutions for 2010 is a good thing, only if you are serious enough to let Jesus work on the bad things, ways or habbits that you need to change. For me it is a daily work 24/7 changing is a worship a relationship with our Lord Jesus. Just like in sport its a daily work not to do it in a one day work out, its a continous process. The first step is key in able the resolution can be achieved. What is this first step? The first step is to identify the sins in our life. Confess it to our Lord Jesus have a daily devotion prayer and always have a daily bible reading. We were made in the likeness of our Creator and we should be a fragrant aroma to our Lord God.

Yes! This celebration of a new year is a great yearly built in time of assessment for many, and for me too. As the New Year is approaching, I am going to endeavor in the New Year to strengthen my leaning skills. In other words, I am going to work on leaning on God more and jumping to assumptions less.

    The Bible
    Read it again in 2010.

  • I’m working on my New Year’s Resolutions, but at the top of my list:

Continue to grow in my sanctification
Become more faithful in my Bible reading and prayers
Get a job… and get a girlfriend (or, dare I say, wife).
    Evangelize more often
Post more faithfully to my blog

In God’s strength, I can do these things. :)

My goal for this year is to memorize Romans 12. That chapter has many important things for us to grab hold of and it is very convicting for me.

I gave up several years ago making new year’s resolutions because I typically lack sustained action. Regardless, I am making some Godspeed resolutions for 2010. First and foremost, I am responding to a sense of urgency, certainly a scriptural mandate, to begin intercessory prayer, going beyond my little niche in the world, for the Church’s suffering and persecuted. I am armed with YWAM’s 2010 Prayer & Diary Journal, a treasure trove of facts & figures, & known needs for particular people groups, plus VOM’s 2010 intercessory global map & guide, as well as their monthly newsletter. These tools will be at my fingertips daily; I just hope they will also be at the doorstep to my heart daily. There are secondary hopes, not yet framed as resolutions. I look forward to seeing what God is going to do this year.

    My resolutions include:

    -Memorizing the book of Ruth
-Reading a chapter of Proverbs each day
-Daily choosing to trust God completely
-Praying daily for my two closest friends, also making these resolutions
-Humbly refusing to listen to complaints (of each other)
-Intentionally dating Jesus, and praying for my future husband.
-Writing down 5 things to be thankful for each day
    -Fasting regularly
-Meditating on specific Scriptures each day

In 2009 I gave up Facebook, and soda; I’ve seen what God has done through that, both in my personal life aka being able to manage my time more efficiently without the distraction of fb; and learning self control with the soda being more available here at college…
In 2010 I plan to give up listening to music in January, and watching television the entire year.
