Then Jacob made a vow, saying, “If God will be with me and will watch over me on this journey I am taking and will give me food to eat and clothes to wear so that I return safely to my father’s house, then the LORD will be my God and this stone that I have set up […] Expensive Peace - #6186http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-most-important-relationship/expensive-peace-61862010-09-27T09:24:09-05:00
Hope is in Colossians 1:20, our word for today from the Word of God. God says His Son came to reconcile our broken relationship with Him "by making peace through His blood, shed on the cross." He climbed to the top of a hill called Skull Hill and died as the sacrifice for your sin. Living Unplugged - #6069http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-personal-power/living-unplugged-60692010-04-15T14:37:44-05:00
If life has become way too stressful and overwhelming for you, it's a good possibility you've been making that same mistake. You've let the bombardment and the overload squeeze out your personal time with Jesus, at the very time when you need Him the most! The busier and "behinder" you get, the more desperately you need the perspective and power that can come only from sitting at the feet of the Son of God. No Life Without the Source - #6065http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-mission/no-life-without-the-source-60652010-04-09T11:20:12-05:00
"iniquities" are made up of every time you and I have done things the way we wanted to do it instead of God's way. Over a lifetime, it's impossible to add all those up. But each sin, each "me first" choice, has put another brick in the wall. Everything But a Captain - #5971http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-most-important-relationship/everything-but-a-captain-59712009-11-30T09:25:35-05:00
All these years our life has been a flight that doesn't go anywhere because we're missing our Captain - the God we were made by; the God we were made for. We've been trying to be our own captain, running a life that our Creator was supposed to run. So we're alienated from the only One who knows why we're here, the only One who can make it all make sense. Beauty From Brokenness - #5948http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-most-important-relationship/beauty-from-brokenness-59482009-10-28T09:59:58-05:00
They can see through your wounds the amazing beauty of a joy and a hope that only a Savior like Jesus can give. If you'll turn away from your despair, and maybe bitterness, anger, and self-pity, and give your brokenness to Him, He can do that miracle for you. The songwriter was right when he said, "All I had to offer Him was brokenness and strife. But He made something beautiful of my life." The Only Applause That Matters - #5943http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-personal-power/the-only-applause-that-matters-59432009-10-21T09:49:14-05:00
Who are you living to please: the boss, the pastor, your family, your friends, the church, some guy or girl, the community? They didn't die for you. Their rewards don't hold a candle to His. The early church leader, Stephen, knew that. He had stood up for the truth on the streets of Jerusalem and the crowd was not applauding. Trading Empty for Full - #5872http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-mission/trading-empty-for-full-58722009-09-11T10:43:55-05:00
You were created by Jesus, you were created for Jesus, and you're going to have a hole in your heart until you have Jesus. Tragically, we have chosen to live "for me" instead of "for Him." And this hijacking of our life from our Creator, this sin, has put us in a futile orbit away from Him. But that's why Jesus came. That's why Jesus died - to pay the price for our rebellion so we could finally belong to the One we were made for. Worth More Than You Can Imagine - #5831http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-personal-power/worth-more-than-you-can-imagine-58312009-09-10T12:45:26-05:00
Knowing how much you're really worth comes from being close to the God who gave you your worth. But we've trashed ourselves by doing things our way instead of God's way: lying, hurting others, dirtying sex, living selfishly. Our sin has separated us from the One who made us. But then Jesus came. He showed how much we matter to God. The Bid For You - #5756http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-hard-times/the-bid-for-you-57562009-09-09T16:06:33-05:00
There is no question Who has made the highest bid for you by far. At the cross, Jesus offered His life as the price to bring you back to God, which may be why you've questioned your value, why you've felt like you're not worth much. You're away from the One who made you, you're away from the God who gave you your worth!
