The failure of our other "gods" points the way to the true God that we were made by and made for. The God Jesus died to reunite us with. If you're tired of the disappointment and dissatisfaction, your heart is ready for Jesus; the Savior who died for you, who rose again from the dead, who's ready to come into your life and fill the hole only He can fill. Life is a series of disappointing views until we give our life to the One who alone can give it eternal meaning. Whose Smile You're Working For - #6567http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-mission/whose-smile-you-re-working-for-65672012-03-13T10:37:50-05:00
Are you playing for the stands, you playing for the other people on the team, playing for the writers, the publicity? I'll tell you this; ultimately every other audience will prove disappointing and unappreciative. You do it for your family, sometime they'll disappoint you. For your church, for some Christian leader, for your employer, for your teachers? Count on it, sometime they're going to let you down. But the Bible says, "We serve the Lord Christ." And the thrill is taking today's activity and saying, "Lord, I'm doing it all for You." I've been on some flights where I wish I could have picked the captain in the cockpit. I've never been able to pick the pilot for my flight, but I got to pick the pilot for my life, and it's Captain Jesus. He's the one Pilot who can bring you in safely...no matter what happens. If God was ever going to turn His back on me, it would have been when His Son was hanging on that cross. But He turned His back on His Son - who was carrying our sin - so He would never have to turn His back on us. So, "nothing in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 8:39). His is the only love in the world that will never disappoint you, never divorce you, never die on you. Those who put their trust in God will never be let down or disappointed. When we trust in God, we can rely on His promise to never abandon us.
