Our moods may shift, but God’s doesn’t. Our minds may change, but God’s doesn’t. Our devotion may falter, but God’s never does. Even if we are faithless, he is faithful, for he cannot betray himself (2 Tim. 2:13). He is a sure God. And because he is a sure God, we can state confidently, “Surely […] Your Goodness and Love Will Followhttp://faithgateway.com/eternal-abundant-life/2013-10-04T14:47:30-05:00
All through the ages, Psalm 23 has been a favorite psalm. Every line is rich with meaning. The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. Trust Christ as your Good Shepherd—He promises to meet our needs. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures. He gives us rest and spiritual nourishment. He leadeth […] Nuisance or Need - #6535http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-personal-power/nuisance-or-need-65352012-01-30T14:38:05-05:00
That crying person, they're a wounded person. And you can be part of God's healing in that person's life. We're here to do what Jesus would do if He were here in person, and that means when others see a nuisance, you'll see a need and you'll do something about it. How to Make the World a Little Less Lonely - #6195http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-mission/how-to-make-the-world-a-little-less-lonely-61952010-10-08T11:12:10-05:00
Often the key to being the conduit for Jesus' love is what I call the second question. Everybody asks the first question, "How are you doing?" And we robotically answer, "Fine." But the second question asks, "Really?" You'll be amazed how that simple demonstration that you really care how they're doing will often open up a heart-cry that's been buried just beneath the surface. race doesn't just come to you automatically. You have to go for the grace that this moment requires! And so often we don't. We struggle and worry and scheme, never going to the Grace Throne for the answers or resources we need. We could be rich, but we live in unnecessary poverty. Sins of the fathers - a Christian perspectivehttp://biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Psalm%2079:8&version=NIV2009-09-28T17:26:49-05:00
The psalmist pleads with God to not hold the sins of the fathers against them. He doesn't want to have to pay for the mistakes of those that went before him. Justice in the Bible: Micah 6:8http://biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Micah%206:8&version=NIV2009-09-25T11:49:16-05:00
The importance of justice is emphasized over and over in the Bible, but it's almost always linked to the equally important exercise of mercy. Here, we're told that God's desire for us boils down to simply practicing and loving both justice and mercy. Neither can exist without the other. Justice in the Bible: Exodus 23:1-8http://biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Exod.23.1-Exod.23.8&version=NIV2009-07-16T08:57:53-05:00
This passage from Exodus emphasizes the twin aspects of justice and mercy. As we can see here, God's law in the Old Testament wasn't just about keeping people from sin. It asked people to actively work to create a just and merciful society, helping those in need and refraining from corruption and dishonesty.
