Most of us struggle to connect with outsiders and have meaningful conversations about faith. We may have been taught to use formulaic methodogies to steer conversations and proclaim set-piece 'one size fits all' gospel presentations. If ever these worked moderately well in times past, they don't now.
Pollock’s book explains his concept of creating a conversational ‘God Space’ in which to engage, by learning to notice and listen, and thereby avoid a range of conversation killers or hijacking methods that control a conversation. A 30-second film shows six people playing basketball, three in white shirts and three in black. Volunteers are asked to count the number of times the white shirt team pass the ball. Pearcey brings remarkable scholarship and perceptive insights to this vital book. Book review: Evangelism Outside the Box, by Rick Richardsonhttp://internetevangelismday.com/bookreviews/evangelism-outside-the-box.php2010-08-07T15:27:16-05:00
Within a rapidly-changing and secular culture, we need new ways of telling people the old, old story. Richardson explains how to get outside the box of ideas and practices that are sacred to us but not sacred to God. He provides fresh perspectives on relying on the Holy Spirit, awakening spiritual interest in others, and appealing to what they value (instead of what we think they should value). It is foundational to any type of evangelism in the modern world, and illuminates key strategies that are needed in web outreach.
