Would you begin right now to pray by name for that person you care about? Pray specifically for an opening where you can extend some spiritual CPR on the spot. Say, "Lord, I know it is not up to some evangelist. It's not up to the church. It's not up to getting a Christian book in their hands. It's up to me in my body, my flesh, my life, to share what Christ has done." The Collapse Of a Two-Legged Bridge - #6459http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-mission/the-collapse-of-a-two-legged-bridge-64592011-10-13T09:22:49-05:00
Our greatest fear should be if that person I care about will be lost forever. Sometimes it's the pressure, the peer pressure that makes me start doing things that make them wonder if being a Christian is really anything that different. I'm confusing them. I'm keeping them from Jesus because I'm not a whole lot different from the people who don't know Him. The Last Lonely Man - #6279http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-most-important-relationship/the-last-lonely-man-62792011-03-11T16:28:04-05:00
When you ask Jesus into your life, the wall between you and God comes down and the promise of Jesus is for you. He said, "I will never leave you or forsake you." A religion cannot alleviate your loneliness. Beliefs can't do it. Only a person can do that; a person who will never leave you, never forsake you, no strings attached. And Christianity isn't really a religion; it's the person Jesus Christ. The Line Between Night and Day - #6292http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-personal-power/the-line-between-night-and-day-62922011-03-11T16:12:46-05:00
How do people feel after they've been around you? Do they feel lighter or darker? Have you built them up, or have you been critical - torn them down; made them feel anything but important? Maybe you've been living too close to that line. Your temper keeps crossing into the night; your humor, your thoughts, your physical involvement with someone else. Or maybe it's an attitude or an action that's just too dark for a day person like you. You don't belong there. Dirty Dead, Clean Dead, Dead Dead - #6293http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-most-important-relationship/dirty-dead-clean-dead-dead-dead-62932011-03-11T16:08:48-05:00
You could make a dirty person clean, but only God can make a dead person live. We try every way to make it on our own spiritually, but we can't. That's why Christ gave His life. Now, if you die without Christ, you'll be separated from God forever. But He's in your reach right now. You feel knocking on the inside? Let Him in. Intimate Bonding - #6271http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-relationships/intimate-bonding-62712011-01-24T09:25:56-05:00
Have you played with God's bonding gift of sex? Well, confess that to Him. Let Him cleanse you as 1 John 1:9 promises He will, that "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us all our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Make it right. Reserve it for one relationship, and then use it unselfishly. The Person Behind The Words - #6184http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-most-important-relationship/the-person-behind-the-words-61842010-09-23T12:18:07-05:00
When you go through a day without time in God's Word, it's not the Bible you're leaving there - it's Jesus. The Bible doesn't care if you show up. Jesus does. That's why you need to make your time with Him and His Word the highest priority of your personal schedule - the sun around which all the other planets of your day must revolve. Everybody's Got a Story - #6153http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-mission/everybody-s-got-a-story-61532010-08-12T10:52:31-05:00
One thing I can tell you from a lot of years of learning what's really inside people - when a person is hardest to love, they need your love the most! And that's when you ask Jesus to release His love through you because your love just isn't enough. React to their bad attitude or their bad treatment, and you can be just another person who just wounds an already wounded person more. Respond with the mercy and the grace and the compassion you got from Jesus and you can be part of healing that wounded person. Worth More Than You Can Imagine - #5831http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-personal-power/worth-more-than-you-can-imagine-58312009-09-10T12:45:26-05:00
Knowing how much you're really worth comes from being close to the God who gave you your worth. But we've trashed ourselves by doing things our way instead of God's way: lying, hurting others, dirtying sex, living selfishly. Our sin has separated us from the One who made us. But then Jesus came. He showed how much we matter to God.
