Let’s review Samson’s vows: 1. Don’t get drunk. 2. Don’t touch anything dead. 3. Don’t ever cut your hair. Not exactly rocket science there. But what does Mr. Strong do? Now [Samson’s] father went down to see the woman. And there Samson held a feast, as was customary for young men. — Judges 14:10 The […] No Specifics, No Solutions - #6857http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-hindrances/no-specifics-no-solutions-68572013-04-23T10:07:13-05:00
God calls us to specific repentance. We may have to go back and clean up a sin that we buried instead of dealing with it, maybe a long time ago. Until you've really brought it to the cross, you should not forget it. Once you have brought it to the cross, you shouldn't remember it, because God has forgotten it forever at that point. The One Step We Miss - #6706http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-most-important-relationship/the-one-step-we-miss-67062012-09-24T10:08:05-05:00
Repentance is so often the missing page in our Gospel. In God's Word it says you have to have Godly sorrow that leads to repentance that leads to salvation. Sometimes we skip over sin lightly in our rush to get people to Jesus. It's like going right to the cure before a person has even faced their disease. There's no real conversion until you repent. How Did I Get On This Back Road? - #6392http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-hindrances/how-did-i-get-on-this-back-road-63922011-08-08T11:40:13-05:00
Are you tired of the back road you're on? Why not go back on God's main road? You access God's best by repentance. If your shock absorbers have absorbed about all the bumps they can, make the one turn that will help—turn away from that sin and toward God's better alternative. It's time to get back on the main road. True Woman: Getting Back Up Againhttp://truewoman.com/?id=12602010-11-12T13:45:24-05:00
I sensed the Spirit whisper . . . this is true womanhood, Carrie. Not a life lived perfectly, but a life that when sin is realized repents, gets back up, and keeps walking by faith. Is This Revival? An Appeal for Discernmenthttp://reviveourhearts.com/topics/downloads/index.php?id=103082010-08-25T16:20:18-05:00
The evangelical world boasts some of the largest and most "successful" programs and undertakings in the history of the church. Could we be in the midst of a spiritual awakening? Nancy Leigh DeMoss reminds us that genuine revival cannot be "produced" by human effort and must bear the marks of repentance, obedience, and holiness. She urges us not to settle for anything less than a true movement of God’s Spirit in our day. The horse didn't move for hours - even though she was free. That could be a picture of someone who's listening right now, as well. Christ has given you His new identity, His forgiveness, His grace for your grief, His freedom to make your future different from your past. But you're still standing there like you're still a prisoner; like you're still a victim. You're free! You can walk, you can trot, and you can gallop. It's time to get moving again! The Painful Road to Greater Results - #6111http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-most-important-relationship/the-painful-road-to-greater-results-61112010-06-14T11:48:22-05:00
Pruning is actually God's loving surgery to let His light go deeper into your life than it has ever gone before. You may not enjoy the process. You probably won't enjoy the process - but you, and everybody else is going to love the results! The Illusion of Safety - #6094http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-most-important-relationship/the-illusion-of-safety-60942010-05-20T10:48:42-05:00
The God you will face one day has told us bluntly that all our goodness will not make us right with Him. Then He explains what will. "Righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe...all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus." The Choice You Will Never Forget - #6068http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-most-important-relationship/the-choice-you-will-never-forget-60682010-04-14T15:19:27-05:00
On Judgment Day, it will be all about Jesus and what you did with the Man who died in your place to pay for all the sins of your life. He didn't stay dead. Three days after He died, He walked out of His grave under His own power. So He's alive, and you will see Him at the end of your journey. The only thing that will matter at that moment will be what you did with Jesus. God won't care what you did with Christianity, but He'll base your whole eternity on what you did with Jesus.
