When you're making a difference for Jesus, you're on the Devil's list, and honestly I hope you're on it. Making that list is hell's highest compliment. Snowballs...or Avalanches - #6833http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-relationships/snowballsor-avalanches-68332013-03-20T10:13:43-05:00
Today is a snowball. You can handle a snowball coming at you. It's just that when you put many of those snowballs together and try to deal with them all at once, you're going to be trying to deal with an avalanche. That's not how God made you. Right now you have the opportunity to run and wrap yourself around your Heavenly Father like a desperate child. And in that complete dependency His power takes over unobstructed by your efforts to do it. It's all God; it's none of you, because there's no more of you left to fight. And at that moment you are more powerful than you have ever been - powerless but powerful. Gasps of horror preceded a deafening silence as we realized that hours of hard work now lay undone at our feet. A Christian's spiritual struggle is not waged against any earthly opponent, but against the spiritual evil that fills the world. Some Bible translations refer to these evil spiritual forces as "principalities." Wrestle - a Christian perspectivehttp://biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ephesians%206:12&version=KJV2009-09-20T19:03:01-05:00
Christians are engaged in a constant struggle, but not against any physical enemy force or army. Rather, we wrestle continually with temptation and other evil spiritual attacks. Conflict - a Christian perspectivehttp://biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Galatians%205:17&version=NIV2009-09-04T12:10:51-05:00
In the heart of every Christian, a conflict is taking place: between our sinful nature and its urges and the Holy Spirit. The Christian life is in many ways defined by this ongoing struggle to overcome out sinful nature and surrender ourselves completely to God. Struggle - a Christian perspectivehttp://biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Hebrews%2012:3-4&version=NIV2009-08-05T08:51:46-05:00
Although we face struggles in our lives, it's important to keep them in perspective--Christ faced much more severe and dangerous opposition than most of us do. Our personal battles against sin are hard, but Christ's willingness to die to defeat sin dwarfs our own struggles.
