Jesus didn't risk His life to save me; He gave it, and He did it for you too. The day you surrender the wheel to Captain Jesus, is the day you'll start heading the direction you were made for. And the people who sail with you - all the people you love - will finally be safe. The Not So Grim Reapers - #6555http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-relationships/the-not-so-grim-reapers-65552012-02-28T10:35:29-05:00
Don't wait a long time for discipline. When a lot of time has passed, the lesson will be forgotten. Explain the discipline; explain why it's wrong. Be consistent, especially in the early stages of trying to establish a boundary in your child's life. Whatever you do, don't fail in this life-giving responsibility. Be sure your children learn from your discipline that whatever a man sows, he will reap. Beautiful But Brokenhttp://hutchcraft.com/blogs/ron-hutchcrafts-blogs/beautiful-but-broken2012-02-02T11:14:45-05:00
If God was ever going to turn His back on me, it would have been when His Son was hanging on that cross. But He turned His back on His Son - who was carrying our sin - so He would never have to turn His back on us. So, "nothing in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 8:39). His is the only love in the world that will never disappoint you, never divorce you, never die on you. When we let conflict and hurt stay overnight in town - maybe many overnights - we destroy peace, we erode love, we erode trust. Unresolved anger is always a bad guy in town. And you know what to tell a bad guy, right? "I want you out of here by sundown!" Babies are hardwired for story and for moral judgment - results of experimenthttp://internetevangelismday.com/blog/archives/27192010-12-11T15:37:43-05:00
Yale University has found that babies as young as six months can:
* follow and understand a fictional narrative story
* make a moral judgment about the motives of the characters in the story
So at an age when they could not have learned these things, we can see that babies are hardwired for both stories and an understanding of right and wrong. Wonder where that came from. Watch the video and read the story. Church growth advice - an outsider friendly church website can contribute to church growthhttp://internetevangelismday.com/church-growth.php2010-08-13T12:36:17-05:00
It is not uncommon for church websites to be very inward focused and therefore unable to communicate effectively with outsiders in the community. Making the Most Of It - #5931http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-mission/making-the-most-of-it-59312009-10-05T09:31:01-05:00
Look, you may not like the situation you're in right now, your location, your singleness, your sickness, your job, your church. But instead of lamenting your spot, God wants you to experience the wonderful joy and contentment that comes from saying, "Hey, I'm here. I'm going to be here for a while. I'm going to make the most of it!" The Battle For The Beachhead - #2943http://hutchcraft.com/a-word-with-you/your-personal-power/the-battle-for-the-beachhead-29432009-10-01T15:13:38-05:00
The battle for the beachhead may be raging around you right now. Hold your ground, soldier. You're not losing - or the enemy wouldn't bother with you. You're on your way to some of the greatest victories of your life!
