Movies: hidden spiritual meanings, parables and parallels in film stories point up Christian truth
Writer Leslie Hand comments: “MovieGlimpse was the suggestion of several different people who were always asking me to ‘interpret’ the movies. Several years ago the Lord began giving me interpretations of different movies. I believe that He is using the ‘common language’ of today which is the language of film, as a vehicle for His message. Just as He gave the dreams to Pharaoh and Nebuchadnezzar, I think He is using men such as Steven Spielberg in a similar way. I believe the church is missing it by not being an interpreter such as a Daniel or a Joseph. I have just finished writing about Chocolat. I must stress that I don’t sit and try and think these up. I can tell if the Lord is showing me something in a movie and I believe the insights come from Him.

Spike Milligan and the Bible
The last published words of the late British comedian Spike Milligan of blessed memory were recently issued in The Times, and relate to the Bible, his religious upbringing, and specifically his confusion about Jesus. During a time when he was losing his faith, he writes, “I remember, during this period when my faith was fading, that I wished that somehow, somewhere, I’d come across something humorous - a comment or an incident – in my prayer book or Bible. One, just one, line like ‘And lo, Jesu laugheth heartily’, or ‘Jesus sayeth “Come unto me and I will tell you a joke.“ But no such luck.”
How sad that he was unable to see in the Bible the very humor ...

Using the Bridge Strategy with integrity and wisdom in Christian evangelism
Using the Bridge Strategy
“Use what is dominant in a culture to change it very quickly. It is in your self-interest to find a way to be very tender”
– Carved quotation outside Ulazdowski Castle Arts Centre, Warsaw
The Bridge Strategy is a major factor in effective online outreach. It allows us to target any group of people according to their special interest or felt need, hobby, ethnicity or language (I Cor 9:19-23). This is a quite remarkable and unique capability of the Internet.
However, it is important that there should be no element of trickery in either bringing people to the page in the first place, or the content they find when they reach it (2 Cor 4:2). At the same time, any outreach site should use appropriate contextualization for its readers: the X-Spectrum enables us to define this on a scale of 1 to 6.

Free MP3 Christian music for evangelism challenge and missionary advocacy meetings
These songs are useful for missions or outreach-challenge meeting for Christians – these are not evangelistic songs to speak to not-yet-Christians, they emphasize to Christians the challenge of sharing the gospel. Whatever your personal taste in music, they are probably more likely to communicate to younger generations than certain traditional ‘missionary’ hymns written in the 19th century! They are free to use and distribute if not for profit, eg you can burn them all on to a CD – many modern CD players now handle MP3s.

Amazing skill of storytelling. Telling stories is key to effective Christian communication
There is a remarkable revival in the ancient skill of storytelling. For thousands of years, societies have valued those with the gifts to 'spin a yarn'.
In the West, there are many amateur storytelling groups, and even some professional storytellers. I have sat completely entranced in the storytelling tent of a local summer festival.
Listen to a 30-minute BBC radio program about the art of storytelling (only online till 16 August). Storytelling is a wonderful skill to learn, and hugely valuable for any form of evangelism or Christian communication.
