The Illusion of Being Covered - #5980
So many of us are thinking we're going to be okay with God, that we'll make it into heaven because of all our religion, all the good we've done - fig leaves. The best we can do, but nowhere near enough to satisfy a perfect God. Hebrews 9:22 says, "Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness." It took the shedding of the blood of the sinless Son of God to cover your sin and mine. And your only hope is putting all your trust in Him.

The Wave and the Warning - #5973
The people who survived the tsunami were the people who ran to the higher ground where the waves couldn't come. The only way you can be safe and beyond the reach of God's judgment is to go to the high ground of a place called Skull Hill where God's judgment for your sin already fell on His Son. The judgment of God can't reach you there; but only there. No other ground is high enough.

The Forever Stormy Sea - #5961
We've gotten away from the God who made us, and the God we were made for. And there's no peace there. Our soul is missing the only One who can remove the things that keep that sea in our soul so turbulent; our guilt over the mistakes we've made, our regrets over things we never should have done, the restless searching for what will give life real meaning, the uneasiness about what's going to happen to us when we die.

Sins are forgiven - a Christian perspective
Jesus caused a controversy among the religious leaders by claiming to forgive sins. Doesn't God alone forgive sins? they asked. Jesus is able to forgive our sins because he is, in fact, God.

A Cup of Rice - or a Bag of Gold - #5932
When God's Son, the Prince of Heaven, is hanging on that blood-stained cross, He is totally impoverishing Himself so you can have God's love, and God's resources, and God's heaven. It's hard for us to see that we're the beggar, but the Bible says we are spiritually bankrupt because our running of our own life has cut us off from our Creator. Only Jesus can bring us back.

Pardon - a Christian perspective
God condemns wicked man--but He is a merciful God who will gladly pardon even the worst man if he comes to God in repentance. God always stands willing to pardon you for your mistakes if you turn to Him.

Turn the other cheek - a Christian perspective
Many of Jesus' teachings contradict our basic human impulses--in particular, this command to forgo revenge and to lovingly submit to those who attack us.

Forgive your brother - a Christian perspective
Christians aren't to bear grudges, even against those who have seriously sinned or hurt them. When a brother or sister in Christ comes to you and asks for forgiveness, grant them the forgiveness they seek.
