Free ebooks about church social media and communication
A growing number of free short ebooks are available on social and other media for church ministry. Note the word 'short'. Long books can be great, but a surprising amount of wisdom and practical advice can be condensed into 10-20 pages. It is, perhaps, the 15-minute TED lecture approach, applied to text.
You can read them quickly, and keep them as reference manuals.

Thanks to Disney for releasing their 6-minute short animation Paperman completely free to watch below, embed or download. (It's been nominated for an Oscar.)

Free article to republish about Les Miserables film
Could receiving a healthy dose of kindness and mercy help transform a person's life?
Victor Hugo thought so. The 19th-century French social reformer wove his classic novel Les Misérables around the theme of grace trumping legalism. A new film based on the successful musical opens Christmas Day across the US and Canada, and January in many other nations.

YouVersion – changing the whole context of Bible
If you don't yet have a smartphone, you may not realise their compelling advantages. These include having with you 24/7: a still/video camera, diary (which can syncronize automatically to other family members, work colleagues, church etc.), satnav, photo album, note-taker, alarm-clock/watch, Kindle e-reader (there's a free Kindle app – and there are plenty of free classics to choose from), news updates, games as well as all the usual web services – browsing, email, Facebook, Twitter. Free (or very cheap) apps extend this functionality in many ways.
The YouVersion bible app is a further opportunity for Jesus followers with smartphones.

Jess Ennis: good picture choices tell a story, online or in print
Britain has fallen in love. The object of our affection? Jessica Ennis, UK's heptathlon gold medal winner.
Before each Olympic games, UK chooses someone to be 'the face of the Olympics'. Their picture becomes a tangible shorthand that sums up our Olympic team and hopes. Picture choice is vital, both online and offline.

Use images always, everywhere, they enhance text and readability
We are wired for visual imagery. An image can express – in a fraction of a second – a mood, a truth, or just an enticement to keep reading a text article. Use them constantly!
Creative commons (i.e. broadly free to use) images can be found through an advanced image search at Google or Flickr. There are also many other sources of free photos, graphics and icons, including Bible images.

To give thanks to the Lord and to bless the readers of the Bulletin or DEI blog, you can win book prizes and other resources during November – 22 are available. Grateful thanks to the publishers and writers for giving them. The prizes relate directly to a richer understanding of the good news, or ways to communicate it (both offline and online) in the 21st century

How the "free" model of internet service really works
"If you’re not paying for it, you're not a customer. You're the product being sold." So says the Consumerist Blog, in relation to Facebook, Google, or any other "free" online service.
