Taking Your Place on the Front Lines - #6154
The truth is you are somebody's best chance of ever going to heaven, because you're the one with Jesus in their heart who is closest to that person at work or school, your family, your neighborhood. If you don't tell them, chances are they'll never hear what Jesus did for them.

Deadly Deafness - #6126
Our word for today from the Word of God is a sobering warning about this deadly deafness. Hebrews 3:7 says, "Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts." Every time you hear about what Jesus did for you on the cross and you do nothing about it, your heart gets a little harder. We wouldn't know that if God didn't tell us that in the Bible.

Looking For a Love You'll Never Find - #6084
Christ's love is the only one you can never lose, because it's not based on your performance. It's based on His promise, "I will never leave you." (Hebrews 13:5 ). The One who knows you best loves you most! He's the one person the real you can finally be safe with.

When You're Tired of Love With Strings - #6071
We couldn't make it home to a sinless God with a lifetime of sin. The only way your sin and mine could be forgiven was for someone to pay the penalty for it, and someone did. God's Son did. Only He could. Picture in your mind that awful scene of Jesus on that cross, suspended by three nails, bleeding and dying in anguish. Then say these two words, "For me. He's dying there for every lie I've ever told, every hurt I've ever inflicted, every dirty or selfish thing I've ever done."

Breaking Through Thick Ice - #6062
As you pray, God may very well show you things that He wants you to do, things He wants you to change. They may be part of what has created the ice. Tell Him, "Lord, here's my heart. Take it wherever You want it to go." And then open yourself up to the warmth of His love, and grace, and goodness, and His amazing ability to do whatever it takes to get our attention.

Tired of Searching, Ready to Find - #6040
The Bible reveals that our heart is searching because we're away from the God we were made for. We were created for Him, but we've lived for ourselves, thus creating an un-crossable chasm between us and the God who made us. Un-crossable except for the cross - the cross where Jesus died to pay for our rebellion against God and make a way back to Him

What we see is what we are
When you think about the people in your life, what stands out? Do their flaws and mistakes irk you? In this devotional, Dick Innes draws on 1 Peter 4:8 and an interesting visual trick to make the point that what we see in others often says more about us than it does about them.
