Ron Hutchcraft Ministries - The House We Didn't Finish - #4325
That's not the only house a parent intended to build and never got done. In fact, many of us Moms and Dads knew how we wanted our family to be -- how we still want it to be -- but somehow the home, the family we intended to build never got finished, did it? Even as our children were leaving for college, Karen and I talked about how quickly the years had melted away and how we were feeling there was so much unfinished business in our kids' lives.

Ron Hutchcraft Ministries - When You Don't Like What's On Your Plate - #4326
I know you have days like that -- when you don't particularly like what's on your plate. Or you don't like how much there is of it. As a parent, you may have to handle some things that really aren't much fun these days. As a son or daughter, or a student, you've been stuck with some jobs that you really don't want to do. At work, it's getting pretty messy, pretty heavy, pretty boring. At church or in your ministry, you're not particularly liking the way it's going in what you're trying to do for the Lord. But it's just part of life -- days, and sometimes lots of days, when we don't like what's on our plate.

Ron Hutchcraft Ministries - When The Captain is Not at the Helm - #4327
In our word for today from the Word of God, we see what happens when the captain of a family forfeits the helm. As we look at the story in Genesis 16:1, remember that God has promised the captain of this family, Abram, that he and his wife Sarai are going to miraculously have a son in their old age. A son from whom a nation will come, and the son who they have been waiting for a while.

Ron Hutchcraft Ministries - Peace in Daddy's Arms - #4339
Our granddaughter felt safe, not because she wasn't in the middle of chaos -- believe me, she was -- but because of the security she has being in her Father's arms. It's a kind of security maybe you can only wish for right now because everything around you is up for grabs.

Ron Hutchcraft Ministries - A Handful of Real Security - #4345
If you're a parent, there is no greater gift you can give your children than an understanding of God's love for them, demonstrated by what happened on that old rugged cross. Don't be satisfied to give them just a religion, rituals or rules. The ultimate issue for every one of us is what we do with what Jesus did on the cross. If you're a parent, a teacher, a children's worker, a youth leader -- make much of the cross.

Ron Hutchcraft Ministries - Squeezed To Obey - #4353
Our word for today from the Word of God begins with Jesus' parting instructions to His followers in Acts 1:8. "You will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." Now, guess which part of that they liked best? Right. Jerusalem. That was home. That was the familiar. I'm not sure they would have ever gotten beyond Jerusalem unless they were pushed, unless they were squeezed to go.

Ron Hutchcraft Ministries - Grabbing the Golden Moment - #4365
Now in our word for today from the Word of God, Jesus is describing a window of opportunity that is easy to miss, an exciting scene that you have to capture when the moment is there. It's in John 9:4. Jesus says this: "As long as it is day, we must do the work of Him who sent Me. Night is coming when no one can work." He's describing what I'll call the "work of God window" - this brief spiritual opening during which you can accomplish an important spiritual objective. Then, just like those photo opportunities that we've missed, that golden moment is gone.

Ron Hutchcraft Ministries - The Waves You're Making - #4371
If you've ever spent much time by a lake, it's something you've experienced for yourself. Long after the boat has passed, the waves it created are still making an impact. Our lives are like that. Long after we've passed on, the waves our choices have made are still impacting many other lives. In our "now is all that matters" culture, it's easy to forget how much our choices matter and how long their effects last. It's about so much more than this moment.

Ron Hutchcraft Ministries - What They're Trying to Tell Us - #4569
There is no more important lesson for a parent to remember than this: behind your child's deed is a need. And you won't affect the deeds until you do something about the needs that drive those deeds. A wise dad was confiding his concern to me the other day about his son's use of alcohol - that's the deed. Then he said, "You know, there's some need there." He's right.

Ron Hutchcraft Ministries - My Father is Missing - #4589
See, all our years away from God are squandered years. They're wasted years until you know the relationship with a father that you were made for.
