"Run" in the Bible: Hebrews 12:1
In several places in the New Testament, the Christian walk is described as a race to be run. Running in a race requires perseverance, training, and commitment--the parallels to the Christian life are clear: we should rid ourselves of all hindrances and weights holding us back.

Running in the Bible - a Christian perspective
In Paul's first letter to the Corinthians he writes about how we're all running a race. We are running to receive a crown of life that is worth far more than an earthy crown. He says he does not train aimlessly, but rather does everything to master his body.
