Christmas: what was so special about the Bethlehem shepherds and their lambs.
Hmm. Until last Sunday, I had spent a lifetime not knowing that the Bethlehem shepherds were not just ordinary shepherds. And the lambs they raised were not just ordinary lambs. At least, the first-born males weren’t.

The Love That Can't Stand to Lose You - #6112
The price Jesus paid for your rescue could not have been higher. That's what makes what you do with Jesus so serious; so decisive in terms of whether eternity means heaven or hell. Your decision about Jesus is your decision about where you will be forever.

Never Forgetting What it Cost - #6100
Each new day, make your way up to that skull-shaped hill again and picture yourself at the foot of that old rugged cross. Let His blood cover the sin that you brought with you. Let His love poured out there capture your heart again. And let His sacrifice there give you the courage to live for Him, whatever it takes, and whatever it costs.

Getting Rid of the Guilt of a Lifetime - #5987
Sin carries a heavy penalty - eternal separation from a holy God. The Bible has a name for that - that's hell. But here comes the amazing good news. "Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when He freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed His life, shedding His blood."

The Trash Removal That Saves Your Life - #5957
You can't get rid of your sin by earning it, by doing good things. You can't inherit God's forgiveness from a Christian family or pick it up by osmosis from just being around Christian things your whole life. Your only hope of getting clean, of getting to heaven, is the cleansing power of the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Not Christianity. Jesus.

A Cup of Rice - or a Bag of Gold - #5932
When God's Son, the Prince of Heaven, is hanging on that blood-stained cross, He is totally impoverishing Himself so you can have God's love, and God's resources, and God's heaven. It's hard for us to see that we're the beggar, but the Bible says we are spiritually bankrupt because our running of our own life has cut us off from our Creator. Only Jesus can bring us back.

Living sacrifice in the Bible: Romans 12:1
God demands sacrifice of His followers--but not bloody, physical sacrifice. Rather, he wants us to sacrifice our own selves to Him by committing to do His will in our lives. The worship God wants from us is to serve others in His name.

Lay down my life - a Christian perspective
Jesus purpose on earth was to "lay down his life"--to offer himself as a sacrifice on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins.

Atonement in the Bible: Romans 3:25-26
Central to Christian belief is the understand of Jesus' sacrifice as an atonement for our sins. Through his death, Jesus paid the price for our sins so that we can be restored to a relationship with God.
