Downton Abbey and the value of storytelling in Christian ministry
Downton Abbey – what will happen next? How ever can we wait so long to find out? Why do we care?
Because we are wired for storytelling. Because we actually feel we 'know' these characters, indeed we love them.

Why animation tells story like no other medium
Because animation is not photo-realism, it takes us into a magic parallel world of our imagination where anything is possible.

Computer humor makes serious points about missing emails
Most humor makes a serious point. Having sent a couple of potentially important emails that were either quarantined for no apparent reason, or completely lost, the cartoon below has some truth.

True Woman: The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey
The village children called him Mr. Gloomy.
So begins one of my favorite children's Christmas stories, The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey. I've been reading this to my three-year-old for the last several nights and have had to brush the tears from my eyes more than a few times.

BBC Nativity serial: review and other Christmas thoughts
The BBC 4-part serial Nativity aired in the week before Christmas to wide acclaim. If it was not screened in your country, doubtless it will available on DVD before long.
I am among those who often find screen retellings of Bible stories tedious: identikit long robes from some 1950s costume department, wooden acting that tries to achieve imagined other-worldly religious ambience, all mixed with an overdose of syrup and generalized schmaltz.
