What You Can't See Really Can Hurt You - #6135
The devil wants you in hell with him forever. So he's blinded you. He blinds us with pride. We're too proud to admit we need a Savior instead of making it on our own. Satan blinds us with religion, so we think that a religion about Jesus will get us to heaven. It won't - it can't. Sometimes the devil blinds us with other Christians who have represented Jesus poorly. But Jesus is the issue, not Christians.

You'll have to abandon trusting in yourself to let go and trust the Man who died and rose again for you. If you insist on hanging onto the wheel of your life, you will ultimately drive it over the cliff of an eternity away from God. And if you've got a family or people who follow you, you may even take others with you.

The Only Way to Heal Your Heart - #6076
The greatest tragedy I can imagine is that you would miss what Jesus spent so much to give you, by depending on your religion or your goodness to get your sins forgiven. If there was any other way for you to have your sin forgiven, believe me, Jesus would not have paid the price He paid. You could miss it all by ignoring Him or just continually putting Him off, or by knowing a lot about Him but not knowing Him.

God's offer is simple, "Come to Me and I will give you what all your searching and all your spending has never delivered, and I will give it to you without cost." How to Carry the People You Need to Carry - #6063
Long-haul carriers learn the strange secret of what I call compassionate distance; offering yourself lovingly and wholeheartedly to a hurting person when you're with them, but leaving them completely in God's hands then, and especially when you're not with them. You're not supposed to carry them all the time. And they'll never learn to walk on their own if you get a "messiah complex" and act as if you're their Savior. That's co-dependency, not burden-bearing.

Full Speed Ahead in the Wrong Direction - #6059
Every day that you ignore God's attempts to stop you or redirect you is another day wasted outside the will of God. No matter how noble your goal, it is a sin to keep pursuing it if God doesn't want you to. For any of us who are driving full speed ahead in any direction, we need to make sure on a daily basis that we are, in fact, driving in the direction that God wants us to go. Life is just too short to waste one more day driving in a direction that God doesn't want us to go.
